did you find it helpful seeing the CPN?
Oh yes!!! He was brilliant. Initially I saw him very frequently - several times a week and then it reduced as I improved. For the last year I saw him every so many months - just when I felt I needed to.
He does EMDR and more recently has been doing Brainspotting. Both techniques have very good results. For me it was EMDR as he hadn't started Brainspotting at that point, but he has since told me that other clients find Brainspotting just as effective. There are threads on here about both techniques if they are unfamiliar to you.
For me it was so helpful to get rid of the 'what if' situations. My head would dwell on what I could have or should have done and it tears you apart. Being able to address those thoughts and feelings in therapy, without judgment is so liberating.
Of course therapy of any type does not take away or cure the PTSD. But it gives you strategies and the ability to manage the residual symptoms. It also helps you to understand why you are jumpy and hypervigilant and to become aware of your own window of tolerance so that you can keep yourself well.
