New Here
I don't know if I'm posting where I should be. Wanna start off on the right foot.

This is the first forum I have ever signed up for and I am quiet overwhelmed.

I don't know where to start....
I'm 23

Pretty sure I have PTSD
Also been told by my physchiatrist that it seems to him that I am:

Bipolar
suffer from PTSD
ADD
OCD tendencies

I get frequent migraines.

I have so much to say but I don't even know if this is going to go the right place. Or if I am on the right site, really..

Very manic currently, can't concentrate so sorry this is probably very chaotic to read. But I need guidance...... That's about all I know right now. Need to talk to people who r relatively like me. In some way or another.

Thanks in advance for anything and everything

Welcome to the forum.... Give yourself a chance to see if you belong here. Sounds as if you do, but that will be up to you in the end....
There is a lot to read here, maybe you could do some reading on different topics of interest to you to see if you relate and identify with others....You can start a thread and ask a question... If you ask one question at a time, it is easier for us to answer and not get you overwhelmed.... just take your time.... we aren't going anywhere...
I do hope you find the support and encouragement you are looking for...

Are you able to ground @GRAPHPAPER?

Are you able to do Self Soothing?

What skills do you have in your tool box at this time?

Getting on top of distorted cognitions is something I found useful!

Reading the David Burns was a must for my recovery.

Regular exercise is important for learning emotional regulation.

I did a hour of Mindfulness this morning - I started off with 3 x 1 minute per day and gradually built up.
I found the book "The Mindful Way Through Depression" very helpful.

I am working on Kristin Neff's Self Compassion website and she has all the audio there free for people to download.

I am also working on Sleep Hygiene as well - having routines of going to bed and getting up.

I am teaching myself DBT as well and you can search for that online and you can access lots of free stuff.

Ladee.

Having trouble finding one specific thing to talk about.. Kind of just how I always am. Can't decide where to start but, soooo I should start a new thread whenever I find a specific topic basically?

Hi @GRAPHPAPER

If you're having trouble finding a starting point, perhaps take the time to poke around existing threads, maybe that can help you find a good spot.

It's a good idea to keep one topic per thread, as not all topics will necessarily fall under the same category. That way you'll find the right audience, answers are specific to one thing, helps keep the focus, and prevents being overwhelmed by too many different topics.

Welcome.

The first place to start would be in introductions; start a thread introducing yourself. You can tell us a little of your history, but also tell us some things you enjoy.
Then take a little time to read some of the threads that are of interest to you. It will give you a feel of how others post, and respond to post. When you are comfortable you can start a thread. It is generally to head up the thread with a question. Questions seem to get better responses, than titles that are statements.

It would be good idea to read the rules for the forum, so you are familiar with them, and don't be afraid to ask questions.

Hope all the other replies have helped you ~~~ doing an introduction is a great idea..Letting us get to know you. Pretty much everyone suggested reading around the topics... something may jump out at you that you didn't realize was a priorty.... All I know for sure, is you are very welcome here... as shown by the replies and folks wanting to help you get comfortable and find your way around...
Hope all this helps and we do hope to see you around.

I often had the "do i belong here" questioning with myself. The short answer is yes, I have been diagnosed with PTSD; but even if you havent, in introductions theres "undiagnosed", "supporter" and "other" along with "diagnosed". So if you think about just that, many groups belong here.

Also, its not a PTSD only site and PTSD only isnt as common as cormobilty (diagnosis of many mental disorders). So still yes.

I did find a site to be on along with this one, that would help with BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) specific things and its helped and would not be wrong if you found a BP specific site to post on too (or not); its not wrong to do it nor is it wrong to not do it. Its just what I needed.

The end result is you belong here.

I know a ton of threads can seem very overwhelming in times of manic. Try to read the headings. For me they help.

Also, for me, learning when I needed to set my phone down and step away from the site was HUGE. I had to learn this the hard way, but still learned it. Im not saying that being manic isnt a good time, it may be, Im just saying it also may not be.

And you still belong here!
