Hello all, I am a new member here, an Army Medic diagnosed with Chronic PTSD. I'm hoping this forum can help me with my treatment. I have returned from my 2nd tour in Iraq, and everything just seemed to fall apart for me. Nightmares, Anxiety Attacks, short temper, you name it.
Welcome to the forum docsmith :) There is a lot of great information here on the forum. And a lot of people on here that know what you are going through. I am a carer for an OIF Veteran. He like you is a PTSD suffer, anxiety, & depression. Like you said you name it. PTSD is an ugly thing to deal with! Tears a persons life completely apart. Although there is no cure for PTSD you can manage the symptoms with medication. I hope that you are seeking some sort of therapy. And I hope that you find the forum helpful :)
Welcome I just joined the forum myself as a carer! My bf served 2 tours in Iraq also and suffers from ptsd like so many others. He has all of the symptoms you have and the list goes on. Im sure you can find a lot of great info here.
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I didn't realize that my post was approved, so I just reposted, sorry about that Moderators!
I really look forward to interacting with everyone on here, and hope it helps me get better. I have tried to do the "Man" thing and hide my symptoms since my first deployment in 2004, but being back there in 2007 just made it worse and it started messing my life up. I am in treatment and my fiance is very supportive (She is the one who finally pushed me to go to treatment!) I really hope that things go well with me.
Welcome and good for you for starting treatment! I know it is hard to step up and say hey I really need some help with this...but you did it. Do you get therapy at a clinic on the base you are assigned to? I am glad you have the support of your fiance too...having someone there to just love and accept you when the day is over makes a huge difference.
