Rescued a pup that has a lot of potential as a PTSD dog. He's 6 weeks old, a lab mix, surprisingly calm and intelligent. I named him Shiner after my favorite beer; not only does he look like a Shiner, ever since I got him I haven't NEEDED a beer. Already have the letter for a Service Dog from my Shrink, so the apartment can't complain (weight restrictions). My therapist also is very supportive of a new Service Dog. Looking forward to starting training for the work after a few weeks of letting the little guy grow up.

Shiner met his big brother today, my former Service Dog (stays w/ my parents). Big brother is scared of the little puppy! So cute....

I've been taking him to work with me. I deliver auto parts, so for the most part the pup stays in my truck (running w/ AC on in the hot afternoons). Today I had him out in the warehouse because it was too hot in the truck. My dispatcher was talking to me, and pup was on the floor. He sniffed at my dispatcher's pant leg, then promptly laid down on his foot! This guy is so sweet, so I know the pup is already showing signs of being supremely sensitive to other humans' auras. Excellent potential in this one....

So, this pup didn't work out. Turns out he's a natural barker, and very shrill. He loved to bark in my ear when I wasn't paying enough attention to him. Not good! After the second time of launching him across the room after he triggered my rage-state I knew he needed to be rehomed for his own safety. Going to go back to my plan of adopting an older puppy or young adult dog to train. And less barking!

I would have tried to make it work if I lived in a house w/ a yard and could exercise him more. But that was the problem. My physical issues and constant pain levels prevented me from giving him the exercise he needed, hence the incessant, shrill barking in my EAR! Not a good match for me, but already have some good prospects I've applied for from rescues. Something will work out, just need the right match.
