Propranolol is a Beta Blocker used for stress. They give this to alcoholics when they are drying out, it helps calm the farm.
Alpha Blockers are medications like Minipress or Catapres which is an alpha/beta blocker.

They are all blood pressure tablets, but have different uses too, like to reduce stress. they worked for me but I have naturally low blood pressure so could not continue using them.

Jimmy:

Thanks. Everything seems to have been engineered for a different purpose but, so far, seems to work for me. It's just a little overwhelming at the moment. If I forget one, I guess I'll be right back where I was.

I started on zoloft a few years ago. Went to effexor for about 8 months because the zoloft quit working at 200mg/day.
Effexor made me meaner and angry. So I switched back to zoloft without talking to my doc. I had a good amount left over.

I have a question : I see my doc on Monday. I have never asked her for meds. She recommended some things, I went with it. I didn't want to ask her for anything because I did not want her to think I was a pill seeker.

But I want to change meds again. I either want to add abilify or switch to Buproprion or both. Something has to change.

I'm always paranoid that my wife and stepdaughter are lying to me and keeping me in the dark. I get very angry. It's ugly.

I get panic attacks and my anxiety is through the rough. Not from my wife and kids, just with everything.

I constantly grind my teeth, all day long. I have chipped my front tooth nearly half off, and all the others are wearing down due the grinding.

Does anyone have advice? Thank you in advance.

What advice could we possibly give. You're doing the right things, trying different meds to find a combo that works for you. Talking to your Dr. for advice on meds and changing them is the thing to do. If I were you, I'd write down all these problems, i.e., paranoia, panic attacks, extremely high anxiety and inform them of your discomfort experiencing them.

You are in charge of your treatment. Study up on PTSD. There are great videos here on this site and the internet has a wealth of info on it. You can live a fairly decent life with this disorder, but it will take a lot of work to find the right combination.

There is a name for that too mate. It's called Bruxism. Some people get mouth guard for sleeping if it is really bad. Try and alpha or beta blocker like proprananol or minipres or something like that. They are blood pressure meds but can sometimes work.

One bit of advice: never switch any anti-depressant without checking with the doc. Most problems (including suicides and mood swings) occur when someone is taking an anti-depressant and suddenly stops or changes the dosage, up or down.

You should never be shy about talking with the doc. Just say, "I don't want you to think I'm a pill popper,.but I am having serious panic attacks. I don't know if its the meds or maybe I need meds."

Yeah, grunt, I lost most my teeth to bruxism. Eating is a bitch. Find something that takes care of it.

you, know what? I am a day grinder. I don't even realize I am doing it. now I have to think, "have I stopped grinding now that I am on Minipres"? I will try and pay closer attention. my molars have shown significant wear along the contact points.

Next they'll start to split in two and they'll have to pull them. I didn't have any trouble with my teeth until I was in my fifties and the constant grinding started splitting. Another little gift brought to you by the beast. Between the grinding, tossing and turning and snoring, I don't know how my wife got any sleep.

I ground my teeth when I got back bad. Woke up my brother a lot. I guess some of the meds helped. But I can feel the grooves.

Sorry Sarge. I hope I can keep mine for a while. Right now, I am facing an operation on my eyes. Doc thinks exposure to Agent Orange. It's tough to be able to see sometimes....I hope it works.

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone. I told my doc that I was talking with some other vets, and abilify seems to have helped them and I would like to try it.

She gave me the option between the abilify and some other thyroid med, can't recall the name. I chose the abilify. It's been a couple days now, hope it helps.

I'll look into the mouth guard.
