I am currently seeing a person who suffers from PTSD from combat, I need advice because I am not really sure how to deal with his fear of commiting to a relationship.....He brings me all the negative problems we would have its as if he wants to discourage me. But however when we are together he is attentive caring and geniune. Not sure what to do how to move forward with this? I expressed to him I am a grown woman and can deal with problems and that every relationship isnt peachy they all have problems. .....

Hi and Welcome! There are many articles on the Home page and caring members who can relate. Also a supporter section. I wish you success on your journey of understanding.

Welcome to the forum. You will find heaps of support here, great advice based on true experiences. At least you can go into this with some knowledge and understanding from the beginning, you won't have to experience the changes after the triggering event that resulted in PTSD. You won't have to go through the initial phase of denial. You can love this man as he is now and not have to learn to love him again post PTSD. Just by him being upfront about it all from the start means a lot, that he is willing to be honest with you and prepare you as best he can for the times when things may not be so good. Good Luck!! New love is so wonderful.
