His Healing Grace
New Here
Hello! Not sure why I signed up for this Forum- I'm well on my way to healing the effects of all the abuse/neglect done to me. But maybe I can help give a little insight someone who needs it; who knows.
I am a survivor of ritual & sexual abuse; physical, emotional & psychological abuse; & neglect. I started my healing journey in 1991 @ 30 years of age. Yes- it has taken many years. But for you there is so much MORE information & help. Back then people were still very afraid of the stigma attached to mental illness of any kind. It took me many years & many tries to find a competent therapist. Then I found I also needed medication to help me conquer many of the symptoms of PTSD. I currently take Paxil to help keep me on an even keel.
I have a Rough Collie who is my Service Dog. I find a Service Dog is great for the anxiety. When I get anxious, I pet him. Or I have an excuse to leave & go for a walk. What ever I need. He's also a wonderful companion.
Today I am looking forward to going back to work. I am currently working closely with DVR to retrain & get back to work. Don't know yet what I'll be doing, but it'll be better than struggling along @ $687/mo!
So anyway- here I am.........
