I have had such dreams, in the layers of my trauma. It is hard, to need and want to sleep; then not being able to get sleep, due to nightmares. This pattern led me to feel depressed and even to contemplate suicide, since it lasted so years.
Each time a repetitive dream cycle repeated itself, there was a different solution. Sometimes just telling someone, helped. At other times, like mentioned above, acknowledging that the dreams were expression of my feelings helped.
When the above actions didn't help, I needed to take some different moves that involved learning how to 'push back'; (speaking) voice and self-defense classes, for a year each, helped me. Finally, the nightmares released,
Anytime, I can share more. Take care to be patient and be kind to your self, as you solve the puzzle.
