New Here
Okay, I've maybe wandered a little closer to the edge of lunacy than is healthy and am looking to come back. Only thing is, there doesn't appear to be a very easy way to fix me. I've developed a habit of making myself the embodiment of karma who should punish and retrain those who don't follow the golden rule. One day I became fed up with people being unchecked in their impoliteness, so I picked the biggest, strongest violator and I smashed him into a bloody heap. I now do this about once a week. In the last two months I've lost it in a drive thru line (a black guy in an Escalade cuts me in line at Jack in the Box so I pull him out of his car then beat him along with his friend who tries to help. The escalade had blood spray from bumper to bumper) a bar (note to people who work out, get tattoos, and wear Affliction: this does not make you a good fighter), the parking garage at work (poor stupid black woman should be ashamed of herself. She actually lets her 400lb, fat-ass kid get out of the car to protect her "honor." He was missing teeth before she could park her Towncar, and I was gone before she could finish crying, "He's Deeeeaaaaad! Oh my Lawwwd! Somebody call the pooollliiiice,") and even the parking lot of a restaurant prior to lunch with coworkers (you ever want to feel psychotic, have a disease-ridden hobo unconscious, possibly deceased hobo lying next to your car while you eat lunch with your friends who know nothing about it. But next time big white man says "please leave me the fk alone, I won't ask again" hobo should probably listen). Actually, "lost it" is a bad description. My violence has become surgical, steady and emotionless. This is going to end reeeallly badly, which sucks because I'm a very successful attorney who stands to lose everything over these impulses...my addiction.

Hi Private Often

One question before we go to far. Are you a Military Vet or a Civvie

I mean "Not so Civil Civlian" is kinda obvious. Just that this site is for Vets with Combat PTSD.

There are a lot of guys on here who could relate to what you`ve written, and also to what you have done. But no being funny, if you are not Ex military or a Current Serving member you are probably going to get a load of hassle on here

If you are a Civvie the https://www.myptsd.com is where you should be.

I have never had uncontrollable anger issues, my impulse is more to verbal attacks (unfortunately sarcasm is lost on many) but I must say that it not healthy. I can understand the rage, but you definately need to get control of that. PTSD is no excuse for beating someone into a pulp. In the end, you are using your own social standards to justify allowing yourself to release. The release may feel good, but it is not helping you. It is just feeding the beast. Are you in therapy? On medications? Part of a support group? Use the tools available to you. Get help.

You're just piling more shit on the heap you started with. And you are not Judge Dread. Just try walking away, I can promise it will actually feel better.

Anthony, please, consider every person who signs up needs to be vetted somehow. Maybe Jimmy would be willing to help out. Or Ned. They have a good feel for people like this. And they are pretty cool headed as well.
Considering we allow anyone to joing and read our private member only posts...I think this would be a good idea.
Please, Consider it. Ta.-Red

Vetting people doesn't really do all that much either... been down that road many years ago. It doesn't work well.

You are better of to just use the report feature and it will get handled, just like Jimmy did with this one and does with many issues, which notifies it to my attention specifically.

I agree....but what about those that sign up and dont post. They sign up just to be able to read what we write in the member only area. For example, if my wife ever figured out she could just sign up and then read what I write, there is noting stopping her. As long as she never posts anything. So are the spouses/caregivers gone for real?
Im not trying to piss you off Anthony... I just think vetting might secure the site better. I want real vets with real issues in here...just not lurkers and flamers.

Hmmm, hate to say it but this is the internet. And part of this stuff comes along with it.

I'm an admin on a site for online gamers. We get all kinds of people all the time that try to sign up for our forums. Many of them are spammers that do that for a living. I've set it up so that I have to allow or delete the person applying for access. So I have to take the time to check out the person before access is granted. For us at that site it works pretty well, but it's not perfect either. I'm not suggesting that it should be used here. Just saying that I don't think you can really keep, as Red calls them, the lurkers and flamers off of or away from any site. The reporting feature is a good one and brings attention to the right person, Anthony, about an issue.

I always have this thing about 'too many cooks spoil the broth' attitude. I think the people here pick up on the fact of whether someone is a combat vet or not very quickly. They seem to show their hand right from the start. Just Jar's 2cents.

As Jarhed basically outlined, you cannot police the www from any interactive site.

This site has extensive spam prevention tools installed, it has advanced account monitoring and I have extensive skills to trace people if needed to ascertain validity, and proxies are not anonymous like some think... you can be traced via a proxy. This alone stops 99% of spammers before any member even knows about them.

Unfortunately, you cannot stop those who register a normal looking account, confirm it, then manually try to troll or post some nonsense. It is impossible... and you have to run or moderate a forum to understand these aspects about what you can control, and what you just cannot.

Some aspects can only be dealt with once a troll or spammer actually posts... hence back to the report feature, and it can then be manually dealt with and tools applied to stop the person registering again, or making it very hard for them atleast.

The site see's very little shit because of all the measures that exist already. If the current measures weren't in place, you would see spammer after spammer here daily, like many forums see who don't run such advanced monitoring the my sites do due to nothing more than my longevity in running forums and knowing all the issues prior. These days I take over the top measures to stop the crap before it happens... and it works, without limiting legitimate members registering and participating.

As the site gets bigger and bigger, it will only grow more and more.

There is nothing any site owner could do about a spouse registering and viewing member only content. No site could control it, because you would need to have a member provide phone numbers, email, mailing addresses, etc, contacting every option and having them validate information in order to confirm who they are, along with supplying photo id in multiple forms, etc.

Who the hell is going to go through all that just to register on a website? Not me... anonymity is part of the beauty of the web. You can't have it in one instance and try to police it in another.

Just another idea Anthony.

Is it not possinle to have the site set up so that when you register for the first time you "MUST " make a Welcome post. and if you don`t then the account will not be made. Something with Nationality, Arm you served in, Dates of service and Theatres of combat.

It isn`t to Personal for those who don`t or can`t write or speak about it yet, but "WE" would be able to add 2 and 2 togehter with the information supplied.

That would make self policing a bit easier, because everybody must then write at least Hello,

PFC Blogs, US Marine 1990-2010 Somalia, Iraq, Afghan as an example. I think most if not all people should be capable of at least that.
