Not Sure If It's Sleep Walking..

Two nights ago I went to bed very tired, I hadn't slept in almost 30 hours, and I can't make out if it was a dream or not because it was so real. In my dream I had gotten out of the couch walked around my living room feeling very confused, but feeling everything 100% more than normal. I was looking around, and then it stopped I can't remember anything else, then shortly there after I was having a dream that I was smoking a cigarette again everything seem very real, I could feel my body moving just like I would if I was awake. I have never had dreams about normal things like this before (at least not that I could remember when I woke up)

I brushed it off thinking it was nothing, but due to my issues with safety at night I close/lock all my doors and lock all my window before I lay down and last night I woke up with my bathroom door open. I don't remember going to the bathroom (or remember waking up to do so) I never had issues with sleep walking as a child, I am just wondering if sleep walking is common in PTSD, and if this may sound like sleep walking. Again it could all just be a very real dream, and I don't want to say I have something when I don't just have questions.

I have sleep walked (slept walked? ) since I was a kid. I honestly can't think of any time I've ever been able to recall any part of the sleepwalking, except when I've woken up in the middle of an "excursion". Mostly these have happened when I'm in unusual surroundings. For example, I walked right into a corner of a wall while sleepwalking as a kid in my grandparent's house. I had a nice little line-shaped bruise right down the middle of my forehead. THAT, I remember. But I only remember waking up - uh - really SUDDENLY, ;) not the act of sleepwalking itself.

A question: are you taking any sort of sleep aid? Ie: Ambien? Strange behavior has been reported on Ambien particularly. If you are taking anything, it might be worth doing a google search for the types of reactions people experience while on the medication you use, and see if it sounds familiar at all. The only part that would concern me is the idea that you might have been smoking while in a state of sleep or sleepiness. If you have any further issues along this line, I'd probably consider a conversation with your MD, just as a matter of safety. Especially if you live alone.

I am not currently on any medication and once I start going back to a doctor I will talk about it. Thanks for your reply :)

I had a foster brother who used to sleep walk all the time. He had a bad habit of urinating in the floor heater. We had to record him doing it, because he didn't believe us. He used to also put a record on and listen to it during his sleep. Just silly stuff.

Good luck on finding out what is going on.
