Hi Manonfire,
This is quite a topic. You may already know this, but the internet began with US funding. DARPANET was set up between certain colleges for quicker access to R&D information. Berkeley is one of them. Defense and Research Projects. That was the nucleus of this thing we call the internet. I am happy to see a connected globe, but I fail to understand "who" will control the network. The internet is composed of nodes in large cities like Chicago, San Francisco, etc., point being, its logically a circle now. One node is down or the packet uses another node, the receiver doesn't care, or know, unless they do traceroute on a command prompt. China and North Korea are connected, but they censor what can be accessed. We are too, we just don't know what we are missing. We need the geek squad to chime in on this. Our liberating internet must not be compromised, or more darknets will show up.
Later,
Joseph
