That sounds wonderful MissMacD!! :) I usually just tell my birdy how beautiful he is and that he's the best nest maker that I ever saw:) , but maybe I should start telling him my problems too! :) I noticed that when I'm crying he gets a little quiet and I feel like it's his support of me!I talk to my dogs all the time. They know more secrets about me than any human. I tell them my troubles and they sit and listen without judging.
I didn't know that about their sense of smell detecting feelings. But now that I think about it, they always say that animals(wolves, dogs, etc.) can smell fear, so why not be able to smell emotions like joy or sadness! That they respond mostly to tone is interesting. Dogs now seem to me to be even more sensitive creatures than I already thought. Thank you for sharing!!Dogs have an amazing sense of smell which can detect how you are feeling by the way you smell. My dogs know lots of words like 'clementine' and 'smelt' (two of their favorite treats) but more than anything they respond to tone.
