Our Pets

One thing about dogs is they are not "good" at hiding their emotions. Yesterday was the "Great Muffin Caper". One problem with the boat is the counters are very low and there aren't really a lot of places to put something out of reach. I thought that I had put the bread and the muffins up high enough, but when I came in, I was not greeted but found two very large dogs slinking around. Now "slinking" is the first indication that something is not right and empty plastic wrappers and containers are another good sign.

Since my 14 year old lab is not the agile one, I am pretty sure who took the goods down, but with the behavior I know they both engaged in devouring the goods. :)

Hehe. Max has just made me laugh - again. My neighbour has 2 Irish Woflhounds (and a Briard). The hounds 'howl/sing a few times a day. They have just been 'singing' and I heard Max trying to copy them. He was doing a wonderful wolf howl. I've heard him try in the past but today, he did it - so funny.

Saffi was on my bed so I went to her, Max came and joined us and I was telling him he was a clever boy. He was so proud of himself, both him and Saffi rolling on their backs 'rowling' to me.

I am glad I decided to venture into this folder tonight. I love this thread!

We have three cats and a dog. They are true life savers. The help calm me and center me. I am actually thinking of getting a service dog. My wife has been mentioning it for about a year now. Maybe I should listen.

We named all of our animals after the Presidents. McKinley, Lincoln, Kennedy and Madison. Madison is our dog, Dachshund/ Rat Terrier. She is a special needs that has a condition called Mega Esophagus. She needs to eat sitting up and needs to sit for 30 minutes after eating. She needs to eat three times a day. My wife built her a Bailey's Chair that holds her in place for the 30 minutes. She also needs to sleep with a Neck Hug, which is a huge pillow around her neck. This is to prevent her from regurgitating while is she is sleeping.

Outside of this, she is a bouncy, loving, demanding pup. Loves playing chase and tug of war. She is very demanding for her walks on the beach!

Wow, this is a really long and really awesome thread. I love talking about my pets; a big, sweet, goofy three-legged dog and a very cuddly cat. I have had them both for a very long time and consider them "service" animals. In fact, I bring my dog to therapy with me twice a week, and even my therapist comments on how in-tune she is to what is going on for me. She knows when I am struggling and has even been known to help me out of flashbacks and dissociative episodes by barking or licking excessively. Even my cat knows, as she becomes more vocal than usual. I feel very blessed to have two in my life. They are what's kept me hanging on.
