Does anyone have experience with out-of-network contracts? I'm on Medicaid, and my insurance provider told me if I want to see a therapist outside of their network, I'd have to get an out-of-network contract. Basically, I contact a therapist I want to see and ask if they will get in touch with my provider and try to negotiate an out-of-network contract to cover some or all of the costs of treatment.
Just wondering how I should go about this. Do most therapists balk at it? Should I try to warm up to them and build a relationship before asking? How much is Medicaid likely to cover? Will I be able to pay the difference if they won't cover the full cost of a session?
