Hello, I am some who suffers from anxiety, especially after being a new home owner and new mother. The biggest remedy for this anxiety is exercise. I exercise everyday and I'm beginning to feel pain in my joint, especially in my ankles and knees. I'm only 28, but I know I'm overdoing it, because I take no rest days. I am not sure how to spend a few days a week without vigorous exercise. I am not interested in losing weight, in fact I would like to fill back out to 125 lbs (I'm 5'2") Please help.

Ps. I am already on clonopin(sp?) and 300 mg of gabapentin. It has only seemed to negatively affected my motor skills and balance :(

Hi
I too exercise to get through the day and to help me deal with what's happening in my life PTSD and also a daughter with severe mental illness.
I find I do this to help me sleep, as time alone and when I'm exercising I don't generally don't think about my struggles (a form of numbing I guess)
I haven't had a day without exercising for weeks -sometimes I will go to the gym twice a day! Or have a long walk and then do a yoga class.
I hate to think where I would be if I didn't exercise!!

If you don't take "rest days", maybe just try having an "alternate day" once or twice a week where you do something more low-impact and something different from your normal workout routine -- like a class (yoga, barre, Pilates, spinning/cycling), swimming laps (even just kicking with a kickboard is a great workout and easy on the joints, or jogging up and down the lanes for added resistance), or biking. If your local animal shelter or rescue allows you to take their dogs on walks, that's a good way to change it up and do some good too.
