so glad you are on the move

Hello, and thanks, blackemerald. I am too. :)

and if the student gets into strife with the neighbour she might be grateful to be able to call you

I don't think that's what I want and not what I should do either. She is an adult and she has her parents with her. The landlord knows (and was totally shocked by the note) and is looking out for her. We had a little talk before they arrived for taking over the apartment.

I think you have done the best you can for this lady in terms of welfare, and protected yourself at the same time.

See, that really is something that stresses me. That really is all I can do! I mean, that's not a lot! I have often thought that this woman could attack me or others just because she perceived something that isn't real, so, for no reason. That is scary. And those who can help say they can't really (social service) or just don't (police).

It is uncanny how she has started on you when you are getting your act together to move. Obviously, someone you have told has passed the information on.

I don't think she knows. I think she doesn't, which is why she put "I think it'd be best if you moved." onto the note. But really, who cares now. I don't.

So well done, keep looking forward to making your new home just the way you like it.

Thank you very much! Can't wait to have a safe haven. :)

With the police and psych services the issue is you can't take any action unless the person is a danger to themselves and others. I would recommend calling anytime you have an issue. Sometimes a welfare check has the benefit of defusing the problem. Often when a mentally ill person is in need of help hey will act out in different ways hoping for an intervention. It can be anything from strange notes to standing in traffic with a knife. It's a cry for help. Their illness prevents them from just calling an ambulance on the phone. I do restate that having dealt with many ill people they are very seldom violent toward others. There abnormal behavior will raise the hackles on the back of your neck but that is only because it's different.
