At that lake where we were we'ld been in 8 feet of water, going to a llake tomorrow that was (Stress WAS) 38 feet deep.

Albatross can you send that beach to me???? The fresh cool beach wind:D, the stir of the waves:cool:, the stink of salt.:alien:

For a fund raiser I made necklaces with a bottle of the white quartz sand once. I have a "fish camp" that is just across the red dirt road from the cypress swamp and spring fed creek that go into the Choctawhatchee River. We want to retire there. The first time we put a boat in there, there was a grandaddy gator longer than our boat (around 15-16 feet). When we spend the night we can hear the bull gators croaking. I live a mile from the beach, a block away from a bayou, and am 60 miles away from the camp. This area has been my sanctuary. It is quite and I like the swamp, it feels like you go back in time 10,000 years.

Wow Albatross.....you are so very lucky! Funny, it seems that many of us choose to move outside of the city, into the quiet of nature if at all possible. My husband and I live on 7 acres in the beginning of the coastal range in NW Oregon. I love the sounds of nature and that absence of industrial noise ;o)
