My H and I went to a National Trust property called Little Moreton Hall (pronounced Morton) in Congleton, Cheihire (UK). This is a wonderful Tudor house dating from 1450 and continuing to be built up to the 16th century. It is an oak frame with Wattle and Daub, very irregular and it is a wonder it is still standing.

Such an amazing building and full of history.



The fireplace in the last photo is actually level (I put my bottle of juice on it to make sure!!) it is the rest of the room that is slanted!

Glass was very expensive in Tudor times and this building had more than its fare share, showing how wealthy the Moretons were.

The first picture shows a triangle cut into the wall, it is actually a dog kennel. The 2nd picture shows the typical Tudor knot garden

I had a wonderful day in York yesterday. It is such a beautiful city. You can still walk around the town walls. Unfortunateley, York Minster is surrounded in scaffolding so no photos of it.

The pub is called the Golden Slipper and is where we had lunch.

This is the mountains where I went camping once. Unfortunately some sort of pine beetle got here and not too far from here, most of the pine trees have turned brown. But it's still nice here :) ...or was the last time I was there.

I took these whilst out with the dogs last night. I have no idea what the pond plant is although it maybe Bedstraw Marsh(I'm trying to identify it - any help appreciated).

Looks like water violets KP. I think they are relatives of the primrose. Hope you find out what they are. x
