What does that have to do with anything? A good portion of those in the sex industry, have a childhood of trauma which led to adulthood decisions / pathways. One of the leading signs of trauma in women is sexual activity, extreme one end of the other.

I think you got it right simply at, he should have said nothing, regardless whether he was addressing her as a woman or celebrity. He's a moron for opening his mouth and saying anything about things he has no real idea about.

It's possible that Piers just wanted to get his name in the press by saying something ridiculous and offensive. In other words, he's doing exactly what he's accusing Lady Gaga of doing.

People also often can't see what has to happen to hide those symptoms. Severity of symptoms is of course one obvious factor but other things are too. Dissociation can be one, Lots of self destructive stuff such as drugs, eating disorders, self harm etc etc are others. Some have skills that can cover it up more than others too. Looking at the outside from one perspective only gives a limited idea of how unwell someone is.

A simple example: two people I know of who suffer with depression. The one is very ashamed and does all she can to hide it and in my opinion in a way that probably makes her more ill longer term. The other is much more accepting and self caring, Lets it all hang out to an extent, Not many people would think the first has anything wrong with her and all know that its the case with second. The second works less and appears to be less functional.

Just saying how much pain people are in, how much they are affected and the relationship to how it looks from the outside is really complex.

Thought it was really brave of her to come out about it.

The reason why I wrote what I did is because I was playing Devil's Advocate. I know about celebrity and the sex industry to the point I'm rather sick of it. All I see is sex on TV. Very sad.
I don't know if she has PTSD but nevertheless, I would've played on the safe side and rose above the issue. Gaga finally rose above the issue when she came out singing "The Sound of Music." I have a deeper respect for her after that performance and hope she can be a role model for those trying to heal from PTSD.
