Has anyone else heard anyone that was cured of PTSD with an African plant called iboga? I watched a video on youtube that seemed promising. anyone have any experience in that area?

thanks!

Only experience I have had, is that you tube is full of bullshit.

How about an Introduction in the "Introductions" thread.

A heads up as to who you are, where you were is allways welcome, before you start posting.

We get a lot of civvies, kids and wags on here who aren`t welcome.

sorry about that. I didn't know about the introduction thread. I will head over there right away.

and in reference to youtube, there is a lot of 'bullshit' on there. but there is also a lot of useful information if you dig a bit. Just trying to get some information from anyone who had experience before I ventured any further.

thanks for your kind reply though.

There is no cure for PTSD. It is not a disease as such that a plant can cure. PTSD is a psychological state and in the new DSM when it is written, there will most likely be a section for PTSD which comes about from service in a combat zone and this form of PTSD is similar to someone who has been held captive. i.e multiple traumas.

Just think, people can experience PTSD from a motor vehicle accident. And just think, they can go to therapy for years and still not fully recover from that one trauma. So what hope do we have surviving and experiencing trauma, after trauma, after trauma.

PTSD will forever be our beast of burden, we just have to learn how to manage it better so we can lead a semi normal life.

But if it works for you mate, try it.

Iboga is a hallucinogen which affects the central nervous system. It is illegal in the USA and here in Australia.

It's like a lot of other natural herbs. If you could harness the properties which do good then it would be a bonus.
But just like smoking pot, it's the other chemicals which do the damage.

I guess we all wish there was some sort of 'cure' that we could take and be done with PTSD. Life is full of traumas and we, somehow, try to learn how to live with them. It's both our resilience and persistence as humans that keep us going forward.

One of the things that I've learned from being here is that you have to work on yourself. We all seem to find different ways of doing that but in the end what ever we do in that respect help us to have a better life. Enjoy the good times and get through the bad.
