Study Posttraumatic Growth Research Study: Participants Needed

You are invited to participate in this study if you are at least 18 years of age, have experienced a traumatic life event (combat, bereavement, life-threatening illness, accident, natural disaster, sexual assault, physical assault, mugging, stalking, etc.) in the past three years

Your study sounds interesting. Like others, my trauma experiences are outside of the time period.

Will we have a link to it?

I, too, would be interested in reading the results.

I'm curious about the 3-year time period, how was that determined? One thing I'm curious about is how that might limit your results (and possible conclusions) a lot. In my case at least it took years to get help and even longer to participate openly in a forum such as this site offers.

Good luck with this, though.

That's true. My PTSD was not diagnosed until I was almost 40, though I'm told now that it has been present most of my life.

Thank you for sharing. About the 3-year time period: as the years go by following the occurrence of a traumatic event, other events and processes may begin to affect total posttraumatic growth. Also, some studies show that the reported benefits following a traumatic event were steady up to three years following the event.

If it turns out that this becomes the greatest hazard to recruiting participants, then maybe I can get that revised.

Well, I would be willing to take part, but I'm outside of the time frame too. Good luck with your study though. I'm glad someone is interested enough to do their doctoral research on PTSD.

Sorry, my trauma is decades old, I am interested in the outcome of your study though. Will we have a link to it?

I will make the attempt to do so. Another way is explained in my Informed Consent Form (Once it's posted, you can read through it.)

Hi Stephen77,

Just curious as to why you are using a group that has been diagnosed with PTSD as a sample population to measure PTG? Personally, I do not believe they are mutually exclusive although some theorize that individuals who have a life threatening illness, injury or event will either experience PTSD or PTG, or something in between.

Debbie

I believe this is the link to the survey Combat PTSD Forum

Please confirm Stephen77 thank you.

Yes, that is the link to the survey. How were you able to do that? Thank you very much. Should I do a re-posting?
