Hi,

I have not seen anything on the forum about this centre. It is based on The Meadows Trauma Centre in the US. It is called South Pacific Private Hospital and is based in Sydney on the beach.

The program goes for three weeks and focuses on identifying and repairing Developmental Issues....as an adult.

The facility has 37 patients at any one time and these patients issues range from abuse, neglect, trauma, drug & alcohol misuse and eating disorders.

I spoken to the intake officer and this treatment helps greatly with PTSD presentation. If there are more than one issue that is fine as well.

The program goes for 21 nights and can be covered by Private Health Insurance. The hospital guides potential patients in how to gain the best insurance for this inhouse treatment.

I called Compare the Market and was told that the best plan for me was to join B ***. This plan has only a two month waiting list and there is no reason a person could not join the health fund, get the treatment and then cancel the health fund if they no longer wanted it.

The cost of this treatment is $18,375 for the 21 days.

If I join the health fund I will pay $232 a month and then pay a one-off excess of $500 to go into treatment.

This is much lower for a younger person as I am penalised because of my age.(62)

If I stay in the health fund for a year in case I want to return for a week for 'tune-ups", it will cost me $3,284 over the year for treatment that is valued at well over $18,500 especially if returning for a tune up.

I intend to go for treatment. Basically it works out to 168 hours of therapy.

The down sides are no coffee, cigarettes, television, mobile phones, contact with outside more than once a week.

The upsides are great food, walks on the beach, ability to focus totally, detox from less than healthy substance use and what I imagine would be a life-changing experience supported by others in the same predicament and a team of medical, psychological, psychiatric and nutritional experts.

I thought I would share.

The process involves an hour long intake interview to assess if the program is a good fit for your needs.

The number to ring for initial enquiries is 1800 063 332.

I have found my intake officer to be empathetic, available and willing to answer all questions I have.
