Sufferer Ptsd Due To Domestic Abuse. New, Confused, Numb

Hi there

I have recently been diagnosed with PTSD due to domestic abuse, including numerous violent assaults causing harm, threats with weapons and constant emotional abuse.

It has also triggered events from my past including childhood sexual abuse and rape as a teenager. I never had 'therapy' as such for these issues but did suffer symptoms resulting in a diagnosis of schizoeffective disorder. I now believe that it was more than likely PTSD all along.

I don't really know how I feel or what to say so I'll leave it at that for now.

Just wanted to thank you all from the insight I have gotten from reading your posts.

Hi, I'm glad that some of the posts here have helped you. Finding a good therapist to sort all this pain out and for you to speak your fears and experiences out loud would be good as well.

I have been very lucky to have found a fantastic therapist and my general doctor is also great so a lot of supports around me which I'm thankful for.
