Sounds good to me Anthony. We all hope to move on with our symptoms and our lives so Why not the Forum. As we see the Forum moving on and changing we can reflect on how we have moved on and changed. It will take a lot of work on your part and I don't envy you but you do have my support. This Forum has come so far and so have you!

I can now say that a decision has been made on the direction of the new self-help program area.

I have reviewed a few different types of medium for this, as well as holding out until 2013 to release it as a result of third party software integrations and current lack of official / supported Xenforo modifications (due to being new software).

Due to the lack of security and precision when integrating third party softwares, I have decided to use an in-built pages system that already exists within this software, it just needs a modification so it can function similar to a content management system, ie. Joomla, Wordpress and the myriad of others that exist.

As members won't ever use the self-help section for anything other than reading, there is no requirement that I need any easy method to build it, so I can use an existing system within this software that allows me to custom code and build page by page as I desire, which is fully integrated with existing usergroup permissions, styling and other systems within this software, allowing the creation of a walk-through system still. No sacrifices made...

Basically, I can make it the way it needs to be, without creating issues by integrating third party software into the site.

I have put this to a Xenforo developer that I use already, and hopefully will have it ready early next year when the site is also updated to the next version of Xenforo.

What that means in simple terms, is that hopefully I can begin that area next year as a progressive project, instead of starting it in 2013 like previously anticipated. Which means there will be a free fully loaded self help resource specifically for PTSD sooner than expected, providing all goes well with having the modification built as I need it to be built. This developer is pretty good and the same person I have used for other custom modifications for this site already, and he knows Xenforo software inside out... so hopefully it will be easy enough and not too expensive.

Fingers crossed. Either way, I will use this system to do what I need to do.

just a note,

I'm a bit dyslexic and I can't read the lists at the top. I love the forum for the strictness about double spacing, it helps me. I have never managed to read all the instructions. I don't know how to use the site properly and will never be able to do so.

On other forums you can post as chit chat/posting and the reader chooses to hide/show chit chat. This enables minor conversations within conversations to flourish. Is it something you'd consider?

That sounds like an actual thread layout method to me. Vbulletin software for example, allowed 3 different types of layouts for a thread, allowing that chat within a thread type layout. Its not a favourable method for forums though overall, so no, its not something that will be coming into the general forum usage.

PC's cover this, allowing members to literally run private conversations, allowing anyone to add members to it, etc.
