Dave Brubeck has died. Great bloke, I've got some of his stuff. Not hard to find on Youtube.
Martin Samuels in the Daily Mail made an interesting observation.
Only two recordings in 5/4 time ever made it in to the charts.
One, of course, was Brubeck's classic 'Take five'.
The other was this:
Sometimes we gravitate towards the negative too much for obvious reasons. Hard to find a positive. I think I've forgotten about Mr. Marley for about 5 years. Being where he was from, he knew about survival and the importance of positives. "They make our world so hard every day, we got to keep on fighting"
I discovered a free music website where you can type band/artist and/or song in the search, pick songs from it's results adding them to a playlist. You can rinse repeat as much as you want creating a short or long playlist. The website will then play the songs for you. When you first log into the site it offers a tutorial (which I skipped). To add a song to the playlist, click on the icon for the song to the left of the listing (either a blank CD icon or the cover art for the song/CD).
It has done a pretty good job so far for me. I've searched for some obscure or little known bands/artists both new and old and it has done a good job findings songs.
