New Here
Hello everyone, 53 y.o. gang rape survivor, occurred 2006. I live alone and am very exhausted dealing with my ptsd at this point. I've engaged in lots of therapies and have just joined up for another closed group starting in the fall. Considering taking some meds, which I've managed to avoid up to this point.
Hopefully I'll be able to find some relevant information and support here!

Hi Jill and welcome to the forum:) I am also a victim of a gang rape when I was in high school at a party. I am sorry for what brought you here, but there are alot of really great people here who have been there who understand. You are not alone. This place has helped me alot. It is nice to meet you.

Thank you gizmo, I appreciate the welcome but I'm so sorry to hear about your experience, you were so young. Nice to meet you too!

Welcome to the forum :)

There is also a sister site as well which is helpful.

Thank you so much for the information, I'll check it out. It's "funny" (not ha ha funny!) but I seem to relate more to those whose trauma was violence rather than sexual. I was sexually abused as a child but after years of therapy, I'm quite healed of it and somehow can no longer relate when I read about it, I don't mean to offend anyone with that statement. Also, when I was raped it was extremely violent, by many with guns to my head over a protracted period of time. I see in myself similar behaviours to veterans and I don't know what that tells me really except that I reacted in a similar way. But I will most certainly check it out ~ thanks again :)

I've had to do a lot of healing from being raped and am still working on that, but I can also relate to what you say. A number of things fell into place for me when I moved from seeing my experience as rape which involved violence and sadism, to sadism and violence which included rape. Having our lives threatened also has its own effect on us emotionally and psychologically (and, I believe, spiritually).

I'm not saying any experience is more traumatic than any other, just that different kinds of experiences may need to be addressed from different viewpoints. Naming what happened, understanding and validating our reactions, and feeling less alone are what's important.

Welcome to the forum, although I'm sorry for what brings you here.
