Sufferer Quick Hello - Struggling With Shame

Only recently started to come to terms with adult effects of child sexual abuse I experienced, I posted some details on another website, possibly in haste. Have had a fair bit of therapy which has always been a disaster, but coming to terms with the past, and moving past the grief, searching for resources I found this forum. I still struggle to name and face the trauma fully because of the shame involved. Hi.

I am so glad you found this wonderful forum! I am also a survivor and have recently been doing some core work in therapy, which is bringing up intrusive thoughts, nightmares and anxiety. I also had to address inappropriate sexual comments at work because I kept getting triggered so I just want to encourage you and tell you that you found the right place!

Sometimes I think the guilt and the shame are the hardest things to overcome, but remember that most of the time we take on guilt and shame that is not really justified or ours to take on. I hope that you find that you are able to let go of it and learn to love and accept yourself for who you really are. This site is a great place to find information and support while you are healing.
