Quiet Weekends

I do love the weekends... not much online time, quiet, relaxing... watch some movies, go shopping... just enjoying.

When are your relaxing times?

Nicolette and I have computer free Saturdays, where we spend the day together for the most parts... do the shopping, any house work, gardening, etc... watch a movie or occasionally go to the cinema. Sunday is usually relaxing... movies, a little online time, but otherwise just chilling out.

Ummmm... relaxing time.

My relaxing time is usually Sunday, as I am quite busy the rest of the week - without taking into account the past week when I have come to a screeching halt. This doesn't mean I don't go online, but I only go online for leisure. Yes, this forum is leisure, because it's like talking to old friends - especially ones who understand :)

On Sundays I slow everything down. Sometimes I don't know what to do with myself, as I have become accustomed to overdrive. But my boyfriend is a huge help with this. He carries me away from my computer, starts long talks, we go for walks in the park we live near to, we watch light movies.. He has become quite good at distracting me in time :)

Lately, I've reached the conclusion that Sunday is not enough. So I'm starting to gradually integrate relaxation into my evenings and even squeeze a little Saturday. A bit difficult this last part, as Saturday is therapy day, but I'm starting to lose that panic sense of it and hold on to my senses better. I think I'm just gradually adjusting to the thought that I can't always be in control of everything. I've got a long way to go to get to that point, but I'm walking the path...

Late afternoons is my chill-out time.

Since being off work, I have got into quite a routine. When I'm at work, I work 12 hour shifts, so there is not much time for anything besides, work, sleep, eat, shower.

I generally start my day, on the computer, checking emails, and the forums, for any admin duties. I then go the gym, during the week, except tuesday, when I go off to therapy. Therapy is only about 5 miles away, but since my therapy begins at 9:15, and I live in a city, I have to give myself at least 1 hours travelling time!! I think I live in one of the worst places in the UK, for congestion during 'rush hour'!!

After the gym or therapy, I come home, (shower and change, if I've been to the gym), and start my day properly! By now it's about 10:30 -11 am! I do the house hold chores. Washing up, washing, a bit of cleaning and tidying, then shopping if required. If I don't need much from the shops, and the weather is dry, I walk to the shops. If I need heavy stuff, or it's raining, I drive! After lunch I spend some time replying to the forums, and playing computer games ;).

Then about 4pm, I sit down to watch TV. Usually the stuff I have recorded on series link, for an hour or so. Then I come back to the computer for a bit. Then cook dinner. Evenings are generally spent either on the computer, watching TV, or going out catching up with friends.

Weekends, I do very little house work, and generally avoid going out. I love staying in on a saturday night, watching TV, and ordering a takeaway! I'm easily pleased, and I'm actually very happy pottering around my home, on my own. I can always find something to keep me busy! Also, my mother phones me daily, usually mid-afternoon, just to check I'm ok :p. She has called me every day, since I told her what happened to me..... but I don't mind :D
When/if I go back to work I will miss my lazy Sundays! I like to read the papers, or a good book, cook something nice and a bit more special than I cook during the week, and just relax! Like I said, I'm very happy with the simple things in life!!

Relaxing? Please explain further. Seriously though I just don't. I always keep my mind active and am always on the go. It's either sleep, getting ready for work, work, looking after my daughter (which can be relaxing but isn't exactly "me time"), house work, cooking, internet work, counselling or eating. I just don't seem to find the time as there's always something more important to do. Maybe that's why I feel permanently knackered.

erm I've asked and he has agreed but to him that means him sitting on the computer while she plays by herself and then if she needs or wants something he asks my permission first or doesn't quite know what to do. To be fair I do get a lie in on a Sunday morning and most of the time he lets me sleep until I want to rather than when he wants me to get up.

I was thinking, a little bit of time to meet friends for coffee, or have a long soak in the bath, without interuption.
I think he needs to learn how to look after her by being left to cope on his own! He's her Dad!! You really shouldn't have to be there 24/7!! 'Me' time is very, very important ;)

I KNOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW lol. Tell him that though lol. When the next one arrives he will have no option but to cope on his own eh.

This is just a bit off subject, but have you ever noticed how many Dad's call caring for their OWN children "Babysitting".
I have NEVER heard a mother say that ever!!!!! Just wondering??? I think there is something very wrong about that!
