New Here
I am William, I entered the US army in 97 as an infantry soldier. I went to airborne, ranger, airassault and sniper schools. I spent 4 years at fort campbell kentucky with 2 deployments to kosovo. I saw many terrible things, and experienced friends dieing and wounded. I was wounded in my left femur from a 7.62 in april of 2000. I have PTSD. Nightmares, depression, anxiety and irratibility are a normal part of my life. I am on cymbalta, klonopin, seroquel, and atavan daily. The seroquel is really messing me up. I can't function when I take it. I need to find alternatives for these things that will be ok to take with the rest of my meds until I can see my doc.
Thanks

Hello William

Welcome to the forum. :)
I just wanted to say be careful with your meds, and try to see your Doc before you make any changes, so that they can keep a close eye on you, and help you to manage any side effects form the changes.

Hi William,
I was in the Marine Corps for 6.5 years myself. I spent time in Panama,Columbia and Honduras as well as the 1st gulf war.
The medications you are on ...I would ask to see your doctor sooner to discuss the med's. Often you can even call and talk over the phone about whats going on and you can get changes made. Don't suffer and you need to know you dont need to wait.
If you are not talking to someone a therapist would be best...if not I would get to one soon. I waited a long, long time. Almost 20 years and it was far to long to suffer.
Try to read up a bit on solutions like grounding when you have flashbacks. It does work for a lot of people. It has not worked for me yet but I dont know why. Good luck and I just wanted to say Hello...to let you know that Vets are on here with you. Dan

Hi Ranger Will,

Welcome to the PTSD forum. There is a lot of information here that is helpful, and there is also a sister site [DLMURL]http://combat.ptsdforum.org/[/DLMURL] that is geared towards those that have served.

Wishing you the best.
Debbie

Debbie, Thanks for letting me know as well(even if you didnt intend to). I had no idea there was another forum just for vets! Thanks!

Welcome to the forum Ranger Will, wish I could add more but all the necessary was already mentionned above.

Thank you all so much.
Who would I ask about posting my book on your site? It is something in the making that is my story. I may sell it in the future, but right now everything is free.

Ask the question in the [DLMURL="https://www.ptsdforum.org/c/forums/help-desk.28/"]'Help Desk'[/DLMURL] forum. Just start a new thread there, with your question, that way the site owners (Anthony and Nicolette) will see it, and give you an answer.
