The seems like a double edge type sword. In order to get IU you need a doctor to state that due to your disability, you cannot work a job ever again. For the rest of your life.

I am trying to lay out some VA thought process here...This is not how I see it, but someone else may. So, here goes. The reason for completing school would be to get a job. But, you are stating that you need on P&T disability because your unable to ever work.

If you have a newer claim the VA may be holding off on the permanent rating for a few years to see if your condition improves. Then they may deem your problems static. Or they can re-evaluate and lower your rating.

If this was me, and there is any possible way you can finish your degree I think I would. That in itself is a huge self reward. Then try to see if you can work. When you can't then that should be ample evidence to file for I.U.

This is all a chess game brother. The VA are masters.

That they are, I'm not writing anything off yet. Like I said I might go back to school when the kids start this fall. The big problem is getting the school to let me back in. I have to prove that my memory and headaches are better and I honestly don't know if they ever will get better. My claim was for IU, at the moment I have no claims in. I'll be re-evaluated in 5 years unless I get P&T or IU.

How can they deny you getting back in school under the ADA? You have cognitive problems. The school needs to make the accommodation!

I went to school with a Brother that fought and was wounded severely in Falluja, he had the beast bad. He missed a lot but the school worked with him, and that was at a private college. I'd contact one of the vso organizations and see what they say about the situation Arty. I'm with Grizzly on this..ADA Brother!

Ok, student loans are no longer an issue, I don't have IU or P&T but I'm not worried so much about them now. I have 5 years to work on getting better and if that doesn't happen P&T is very likely reguardless. Now I get to relax and enjoy my kids and hobbies. I just wish my hobbies where always enjoyable rather than hit and miss on my mood, but hey I get to live the dream as a stay at home dad so I can't complain.

My friend in Ohio got IU. He is going for SSDI. I wish him the best luck. I am working on myself. I go to therapy and I am trying psych meds. (So far they do more bad than good so I'm waiting to go back and get different.)
