Manic,
I have been doing horse rescue for over ten years. People get me the horses from the slaughter auction. (I could never attend the auctions myself as it is would haunt me and break my heart.) But I have rescued over thirty abused horses (mostly Arabs but Pasos, Morgans, etc.) I specialize in horses with behavior problems because I used natual horsemanship (like the movie 'The Horse Whisperer'). Many of the horses were extremely dangerous and I have concussions and broken bones to prove it. All of the horses were very abused. Of course I was abused and so I could relate to them. Every single one of them came around and by the time they were adopted or sent to equine therapy facilities they were completely calm and trusting. I didn't heal these horses. These horses healed me. Right now I have three permanent horses on my farm. One is the son of Wayne Newton's 1996 International champion Arabian Stallion. Because of this poor horse's great bloodlines, trainers tried too hard to push him to be a champion and he went crazy. When I got him he was really dangerous and attacked me all the time. Well, now he is used for equine therapy and is everyone's favorite. He just loves everyone and I put eight year old handicapped kids on him.
I wish you the best of luck with your horse. If you ever need another opinion or advice or encouragement, please contact me. My horses are used for equine therapy because they are tremendous healers. Just going to my barn every night to tuck my horses in and give them a carrot makes me feel good. How the horses transform is a miracle to me. Seeing how they transform people is an even bigger miracle.
Hugs! (I love the name Pixel! I named my killer horse Good Karma and he's lived up to his name.)
