Readers thread: what or who are you reading right now?

I been digging around for some more stuff about the biological influence of the two forms of happiness through the human genome. Human Body Distinguishes Between 'Hedonic' and 'Eudaimonic' Happiness on Molecular Level

I'd seen some stuff about "two forms of happiness" being floated around for a while in wellness circles and decided to try to find out more. (Yeah I know, I'm weird but that's what I do for fun.) Holy crap this book is pricey... but I'm doing a search through the libraries for it with my fingers crossed:

Avoiding Selfhelp/More developement books these Days, because (Yes this probably needs more investigation)
So I try People like T. Brach or Kirstin neff and some others, but there is something which doesnt quite click with me. Words like compassion/ selflove makes me sonewhat grrrrrrr. Not gonna explain why because it doesnt sound logical.

I need sarcasm, sharp realness.

Does anyone know such a book?

Hey, I am not sure if this is the right place to ask. But im after book recommendations.
Im a literature graduate and reading was such a thing for me throughout life, then ptsd struck and I couldnt read a thing. Im so scared of triggers. I have parts now so many triggering possibilities.

I have managed to read probably two fiction books in the last 7 years. The prequel to Northern Lights Trilogy and... The Curious Incident of the Dog at nighttime. I loved this so much. How funny that that book is so popular here!
Anyway I guess I want to start with childrens stuff. And as a kid I liked stuff about outsiders and loved the fantasy/magic element. Any ideas??
I also wondered if anyone had experience of being able to read adult stuff again after losing that ability?? ?
