Recovery Playlist - Positive Energy

While I lie with my head upside with a migraine, I have some time to mess around on my phone. I'd like to put together a playlist of songs that feed motivation and a drive towards recovery (music is a powerful motivator for me).

Preferably I'm looking for positive energy songs, from a variety of genres (to cover the diverse music preferences of all my parts), so anything from country to metal to jazz to pop. I've so far got Aretha Franklin's Respect sitting next to Lady Gaga's Born This Way and Limp Bizkit with My Way Or The Highway.

So, if you have a positive energy tune that you like to crank to get yourself motivated and feeling like you can do this whole 'recovery' thing, I'd love some suggestions:)

My favourite genre of music is indie folk.

I love this playlist for giving me good vibes. The first song of any playlist is such a dealbreaker in getting one to listen to the following songs, and this playlist has a particularly great first song, and for achieving this
get yourself motivated and feeling like you can do this whole 'recovery' thing
in particular.

It's a ballad (so not sure if it fits the entire "positive energy" stipulation...more...fighting mood), but it's utterly powerful it had me bawl up in my car so bad on my way to work, the other day. I absolutely love this song.

I have more, but I'm on my way out of the office, so more later.

(big big big big fan of Lady Gaga's Born this Way! Not usually my music genre, but I'm a sucker for those kind of self-accepting songs. Another good one I love is Kelly Clarkson's 'People Like Us')

Fk, why haven't I done this before now. I'm loving all the suggestions so far - and particularly thanks for getting some rap in there with Flo Rider because hip hop is one of my parts sacred genre, but bloody hard to find healthy positive stuff in there (or maybe I've always leaned too heavily in the other direction!).

Ballads definitely hit a different playlist (that one where you need to have a good cry and give the world the finger). The uppers are definitely doing it for me right now - love you guys:)

For realsies, those numbers are all getting downloaded today. I didn't realise how much I needed this!

(I also absolutely love "Sound the Bugle Now" from the same movie, which speaks so deeply to me, but not sure if positive enough ;) )

sorry, no hiphop/rap, completely not my genre :D:oops: (but would absolutely love to see good suggestions, myself, because always keeping an open mind -- also, lots of political stuff in my playlists which is by definition not exactly positive :hilarious: )

Ahhhh...music has been my saving grace more times than I can count. So many genres, so little time...?

Thank you for starting this thread as it gives me a chance to revisit some of my most absolute therapeutic favorites....

For the times I should on myself too much...

"There's no way out, but there's a way in...."

A funky reminder for the times I fall off my cleaner consumption wagon that ultimately creates dis-ease in many different forms...

This song was introduced to me by a dear friend when I was in one of my deepest ditches....

I love damn near every one of these sisters songs, but this one is the one that initially caught my attention...seeing them live was pure magic...

Nas and Damian struck a deep chord within me with the lyrics in this one....

Nas & Damian Marley - Patience + lycris

I could go on and on and on, but I'll wait and come back another time and add some more. ? ?

Generator by The Holloways who were a UK indie rock band. I’m not sure how to embed videos, sorry! Though I’m not a fan of the video for this anyway (looks like a bunch of institutionalised sad clowns!) so I much prefer just to listen to it.

Also - Lady Gaga, Edge of Glory - I always play it on my way to work when I need to deliver a workshop and am not really feeling it! It always boosts my energy and mood.

Will check out others’ suggestions here. Thanks for the thread!

Thanks to the lady from trauma group for this gem: Pluto, by Sleeping At Last.

Breathe Me by Sia gets a place for SHing recovery days.
