Relationship question for people over 50

I wonder whether *any* relationship is ever as neat and straightforward as it's in the movies..
that simplicity in the movies takes teams of writers, directors, editors, etc., to achieve. the entire process of writing and producing a movie can take years. since when is simplicity ever simple? life doesn't often let us do retakes.

summarizing a 45 year relationship into two hours of entertainment is a whole heap different than living 45 years of day-to-day. and, of course, we can insert mark twain here. "of course fact is stranger than fiction. fiction is obliged to make sense."

by current living standards, i think the fact that the people who tied the knot in 1980 are still speaking to one another and sharing financial records qualifies us as a romantic icon. just thinking, but my thunkery is all too often psychotic.

edit
oopsie. . . i didn't realize yesterday's aborted attempt to respond auto-posted. details. . . details. . .

Anything that can be summarized in 90 minutes? Is just that. A summary. Or? A glimpse at a particular moment. At best.
