Victims of domestic violence are hindered from leaving their abusers by internal and external factors, including the response of the criminal justice system, fear, perceived control, and self-esteem, according to a new report.

I had a quick look at some of their reports.

I did spot one flaw in the firearms and intimate partner violence paper; the quoting of figures for risk derived from Kellerman's publications in the New England Journal of Medicine.
Kellerman has a very poor reputation amongst criminologists, for cherry picking samples from hi offender populations in order to come up with figures that are not representative of the general population.
He tends to publish in medical rather than criminology journals.
