@anthony - They don't have a study designed yet. That's part of what makes this weird to me. Maybe it's me. It could be - weird day for me.

@Imad Libbus PhD
As you know, SUDS = subjective unit of distress. You want a more objective measurement THAN subjective distress during PE therapy? That such a device would or would not assist in compliance?

If someone is triggered during PE therapy to the point that their parasympathetic nervous system overpowers the sympathetic arousal, they go into a dissociative state where heart rates typically decrease instead of increase.

The subjective score would reflect someone reporting they are numb or other symptoms of dissociation which are critical to knowing that the exposure was too much.

What would show up on an ambulatory biofeedback machine is a lowered heart rate, a decrease body temp, etc, which could look like a false relaxed state - the "subjective" score is pretty important.

PE is sometimes used for people with dissociative symptoms, like me. But biofeedback Isn't always a more "objective" measurement of distress - and could give what is considered to be false positives during dissociation.

It would be important to consider how your study would separate out those events out. Sometimes people don't know that they are dissociative until it happens in treatment.

We are early in the development stage, so this is not part of a research study. We would just like to ask a few questions of people who have undergone PE therapy to find out what the specific challenges are, and if the device we're developing would be useful.
Understandable. I think you may need to rely on some actual research, instead of what you're trying. Or interface with physicians. Or come back when you have a research study designed. Maybe?

I'm still willing to answer a few questions. If it's anonymous and the questions don't relate directly to my trauma. Exposure therapy is very difficult and very unpleasant but I want to get better. My T says that I can quit at anytime but I continue with it because I don't want to continue living like I do currently. I believe it's working. It is a big deal though.
