A thing to keep in mind looking at hospital programs is that they're all quite different from each other. Even trauma units that specifically focus on PTSD focus on different kinds of trauma and different kinds of therapies. So it's very much worth it to both research different programs, and apply to several (sort of like colleges!). Sometimes the most exciting program won't have space available for a few months, and be worth waiting for. Other times the need right-now is so great, that it's absolutely worth going with a different program, for now. Other programs and specialized therapy can always be gotten later, once the crisis now has been dealt with.

Is your husbands therapist someone who can help you research programs, or do they have a specific one in mind?

My vet checks himself into a rehabilitation center that specializes in combat PTSD every now and again for a few weeks, he says it's the only thing that keeps him half sane ... saying that though when he came back he did struggle more than he did when he went in and had to up the level of therapy weekly in order to get back on track! This doesn't mean it didn't do any good it just meant that he struggled going from a higher level or care to a lower level and speaking about things he doesn't want to caused him to isolate for a few days when he returned.

We don't talk about it enough for me to give you the ins and outs of it all but he did say it helps him, from my point of view it made him worse but then again it could be a case of 'things get worse before they get better'. He seems to be gradually getting back on track now which is positive :)

I am in the UK so I can't give any suggestions on what center might be better I'm afraid! Wishing you all the best :)
