I'm having trouble sleeping each time I close my eyes my thoughts start racing and the walls feel like they are closing in.

The more I try to relax the worse it gets.

Anyone else have this issue?

Yes, night time anxiety for different reasons. Would it help to just get up and walk around slowly a bit, get a drink of water? I know how it feels to try to "relax" and just feel worse...it can just increase panic or tension. I find it helpful to just get up for a bit, sit in a chair with the lamp on, move my feet a bit, maybe read something light and short.

I'm not sleeping well tonight...woke up quite wired at 3:30am and was NOT going to get back to sleep any time soon. I got up for a bit. Now I'm laying on a heating pad since lower back is tensed up. This will at least help me relax a little, even if I don't sleep...maybe I can get a little nap in later. I take sleeping pills and muscle relaxants as needed, but sometimes they don't even work very well. Hope you get some rest sometime.

Mine is similar to yours but as my body starts to relax I get a partial flashback and my body jumps - waking me up totally and freaking me out. I then try to imagine myself in a safe setting, floating on a soft cloud with sunshine beating down on me and hearing waves against a beach. At times I am more successful than others in conjuring up this image. I am so sorry that you are not sleeping and hope that tonight is better for you.
