My company sent an email banning all Samsung Galaxy Note 7 from all buildings when an employee's caught fire.

They left us with this site:

Galaxy Note7 Safety Recall and Exchange Program

And advises that the US Consumer Product Saftey Commission had issued a warning to all consumers to stop using and charging their Samsung Galaxy Note 7 due to the risk of exploding batteries. The CPSC's warning comes on the heels of the FAA banning charging of the Note 7 on planes.

Which is scary as I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 and its been feeling very hot on its backside through an Otter Box Defender which is a very thick case that has 2 layers.

You would have nothing to worry about with yours, it was released in April of 2014, over 2 years have passed to work out any glitches that the S5 would have had. (though you think they would have worked out fixing the life of the battery in the S5)
The battery you have is completely irrelevant to the current recall

Yeah i figured but it just doesnt set easy with me. It needs to be upgraded anyway. They didnt solder the peice inside the charger port well and so again im having issues charging and suddenly a USB to PC charging is a "weak" charging source and then feeling how hot it is through this real thick case. Im not scared its going to catch fire like that but certianly possible to short out. Or at least thats what happened to my therapist's wife's S5. He and i sort of upgrade at the same time-ish, to the same phone. So we compare notes if you will lol.

lol@ comparing notes
PC charging usually only tends to feed at approx 1/2 amp, so it is going to be relatively slow anyways (and then add port issues, even slower)
I buy 2 amp chargers for my phones, tablets, and ipod so you get a faster charge. Samsung (Best Buy, any place that fixes phones really) charge an arm and a leg to fix their charging ports as they usually say it's gone wrong because of "use of the phone while charging" (even if you don't use it while charging, which you aren't supposed to anyways, they just want an excuse to charge so much)
It's usually much cheaper just to get a new phone. (well, when money grows on trees that is haha)

Yeah but @Silver, the 2 amp charger is still a micro USB. Thats the issue with the soldering of the interior micro USB port (right side on S5)...it wiggles and has to sit just right to charge. Unless i use this retarded fat charger the S5 came with that has an extrea smaller charging place (left side) so when i have the fatter charger chord in, it doesnt wiggle and charges no matter how its sitting as its in a 2nd hole. I know that totally makes no sense unless you can see the charging port of the S5 and the charging cord that comes with it. Its 2 plugs in one end.

I completely understand charging issues. (especially with the S5, seems to be a common problem with it)
I have to plug in my charger, and then wrap the charging cord over the front of it, wrap it around, and tuck it so it holds, to lift the port up so it will take the darn charge.
*the things we do to save our phones* :hilarious:
