Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

It has been a year since I have been in school, honestly 2 years before I've had the mindset for school. Due to health and PTSD my grades were ruined. My goal was to retake one of my courses with a professor I liked to make an A in the course online. I started taking her last semester and before my medical withdrawal due to suicide attempt I had to drop the course. The class I am taking is one I took my first year at uni and I made a D because the professor was horrible from what I remember. Granted I did not realize at the time how severely I was affected by the undiagnosed PTSD. I was not focused.

Class started on Monday and we found out that the professor I liked had to back out of teaching the course, giving me a new professor I did not know. Well all of us are waiting patiently. I got an email tonight that yet again the professor has changed and I am back with the professor I did not like! Retaking this course is my best option at picking my GPA back up to a level that financial aid will kick in again (we had to pay for this course out of pocket). So it looks like I am stuck with this professor. I am panicking!!! I don't honestly remember much of his class because my dissociation is so bad. I know I was working full time and attending full time school. So considering I am not working and this is my only class, surely I can do it? Right?

Ughhhhhhh major panic!

Thank you @Solara I am, but my accommodations aren't really helpful for online classes. The only benefit really is double time on exams and quizzes.

I was SO looking forward to the class with my initial Professor! I LOVED her style last year when I started in her class and I had an A in the class before having to do medical withdrawal. I REALLLLLLLY need an A in this course to bring my grade up :(.

You're taking to course online? Seems like that would help.

I had a similar experience with college, Went for 2 years, nearly flunked out, quit, came back resolving to do better. I DID do better, but there was a lot I didn't know (like that I had PTSD). There was one faculty member, in my major, that I particularly had problems with. I found out later he liked ME even less than I liked HIM. I had the same situation, where I signed up for a particular section to avoid him, things got switched around and he ended up team teaching the class with another professor who I knew nothing about. Worked out fine. The new guy was great and ended up being a mentor for the rest of the time I was there. The guy who didn't like me....he NEVER liked me. So it goes.

You have things lined up much better now than you did before. I'll bet you can do this. Good luck!

Thank ya'll for the encouragement! I am a bit calmer today. I think I can do better than I did before, BUT I have to do more than that... I desperately need an A in the class to bring my GPA back up to passing. It needs to be at a 2.0 and its a 1.88 right now. So I need an A to bring it up.

I know you have a teacher you don't like - but if you can kind of put that aside, at the very beginning of a semester it's not a strange thing to let the professor know that you are very committed to earning an A in the class, and would like to know if there is anything especial besides what is on the syllabus that she/he would recommend to support you in achieving your goal.

Sometimes there's nothing, but sometimes there are things. As long as you say "earn an A" instead of "get an A" and you acknowledge that you have thoroughly gone over the syllabus, any teacher (even the not-so-good ones) should be likely to give you a straight answer.

Just a thought. Totally not necessary.

Thank you for the advice @joeylittle

We had our first lecture today basically covering syllabus and such. He thankfully kept the same textbook which is great because I like this text and am familiar with it. I have to make an appointment with him about my disability anyways, so I will talk to him about any advice he can give. Thank you!
