The appointment is in a few hours and my stomach is in knots... I can't eat or drink water and just moving my torso causes the pains in my stomach to get worse. I think it's because of anxiety, but I often have an emotional disconnect - I don't know how I'm feeling, I just rely on these physical symptoms to inform me, or watch how my dog is responding to me, etc.

This therapist has a really good reputation for PTSD therapy...I'm praying we're a good match and he can help me learn how to climb out of flashbacks when I'm in them and help me with dissociation and these intensely painful gastrointestinal effects of my PTSD.

My current therapist who referred me has been an incredible support. He e-mails me several times per week - often every day - and is continuing to support me in that way through the transition to a PTSD specialist.

Feeling very thankful right now for these resources in my life, including this forum.

It sure sounds promising given the source of your referral. I hope this will be the dawn of a new day!

I too sometimes try to figure out what emotion I feel by the way my body feels. I get the severe GI tract stress too. Tres bummer man. Our survival brain is all the time telling the intestines - no time for that now! Time to fight or fly like the wind!

By my clock, you made this post four hours ago. Any update?

For sure it seems like a dream I have only dreamt. Professionals working together for the benefit of a patient? Does that REALLY happen? Or am I misreading again? My pros remind me of roosters at a cock fight. They'd sooner peck each other's eyes out than think of a patient's benefit. Agreeing is not in the Hippocratic Oath.

Okay, okay. I behave now.

Still hoping for that update.

Stay strong. Do you have a spouse or significant other? If so I strongly recommend you work on yourself as hard as you can!! As these PTSD issue's can weigh heavy on a relationship. I know trust me.

Count your blessings and what matters to you. I've learned to do things that makes you happy! POSITIVE things tho.workout go for walks talk to be people Especially on here. There's no judgement on here. Everyone is here for everyone. We may not know each other but we all have the same issue or know someone who's struggling. Give us an update soon

The guy seemed very knowledgeable and I liked his style. I learned that he gives talks on PTSD at conferences...he's been doing therapy for 30 years. While I think it takes at least a few sessions to assess compatibility, I have a very good feeling about him.

His discussions and descriptions of his approaches sound a lot like what I have read about in my research on effective treatment of my sort of complex PTSD. I think this guy was worth the 2 month waiting list.

Thanks for all your support! Hopefully the more intensive healing part of this journey can begin now...
