Research Seeking feedback on a new mental-health wearable concept (research project)

Hi all,

I’m part of a research project at University of Maastricht exploring a mental-health wearable concept. The idea is a non-invasive device that tracks biomarkers (heart-rate variability, sleep patterns, etc.) and slowly learns your personal patterns. Ideally, it could warn you before stress spikes, panic symptoms, or PTSD reactions become noticeable and offer coping options.

We are trying to understand whether people would actually want something like this, what concerns they might have, and what features would genuinely help.

If you have experience with anxiety, trauma, depression, or even just current wearables, your insights would be incredibly valuable. We put together a short anonymous questionnaire:
Qualtrics Survey | Qualtrics Experience Management

If you’d rather share your thoughts in the comments, that’s also great.

Thanks for your time.

The very first wearable device I owned, pre-pandemic was called an aspire stone. Clipped at the waist and vibrated when becoming anxious. During the pandemic they switched to offering their support more towards medical devices and so having lost the support, when it stopped working I had to gravitate to something else. That is currently a Fitbit. Going back to the days of the stone, I got alerts quite a bit on my tablet with instructions or prompts of what to do. Really increased my body awareness. Fitbit offers me much more. It also has body responses on it and prompts for 3 different actions I can take. It does monitor sleep and heart rate variability. My doctor really listens to me when I give her some of my stats if they are concerning. For the past 10 days I have been in hospital then back home resting. My watch has been suggesting every day that I rest as I have been pushing myself hard lately-this is usually related to exercise, but in this case it is for sure picking up that I am sick and my out put is very low. It’s been great to have it monitor O2 stats as that is what landed me in hospital. I’ve learned a tremendous amount from these two devices and my doctor and I discuss different trends. We know they are not 100% accurate but she does take it into consideration as good feedback.
