General Seeking Support After Spouse's PTSD-induced Divorce

Hello , I’m new here . Not sure how to navigate this forum .

My husband of 23 years recently and aggressively left me and asked for a divorce . He has major ptsd . His moods flop back and forth and his intentions and emotions are confusing . I’ve been in therapy , I am in therapy . I’ve read countless books .

I know the symptoms of ptsd . I’m just having a hard time accepting this is my reality . We had a beautiful life , beautiful family . I’m hurt angry scared . He’s a police officer of 20 years . I think I just needs guidance and support from others who have experienced this 💞

Sounds like he retired last year or so? So he lost all of his coping mechanisms & imploded? <<< My money. 90/10 (people without PTSD get suicidal as hell about 6mo after retiring. It’s faaaar more dangerous, to retire, than to be an angst ridden teenager, or parent who’s just lost a child. And those are 2 of the most lethal times of life).

Or he’s still working & has chosen work over family? 10/90.

How ARE you, life wise? Are you on your feet? If not? Mental/emotional/relationship can all wait. Feet first.

He’s not retired . He’s a workaholic . That the only thing he’s good at right now . Although I have heard he’s slipping . I am taking care of myself . And my kids . My house and yard . My dogs . He abandoned all of us . He will only speak to my daughter.

He’s not retired . He’s choosing work to be strong I guess . He’s avoidant of me and his responsibilities . It’s soul crushing .
