Self awareness in therapy

What do you think it is to be self aware in therapy. I have this long email to send my therapist and I've wrote how I feel like I'm pretty self aware, because I do....but what does that mean to you? Would you guys say I was pretty self aware too?

to me, self-awareness means the same, whatever the scene of the self-awareness.

i wouldn't hazard a guess as to your real-time level of awareness. i know it's easier for me to sound self-aware in writing. maintaining that awareness at the speed of life is a whole different ball game.

I think there are many levels of self awareness. We never stop learning so as we learn more the depth of our self awareness deepens. I feel I am fairly self aware for the stage of healing I am at. But that is just the tip of the iceberg.

I think I'm self aware. And then I learn more. And realised I have become more self aware. And then I learn more etc etc etc .
So maybe it's not being self aware as opposed to not being. But a journey of discovery and growth?

A journey also that is ok to be on? So, it's ok to be vulnerable and need to learn more about ourselves. Which is part of the reason we're in therapy as there are things to work on within ourselves?

I’m told I’m very self aware.

When I’ve asked for examples / what that means?

I’m told that I understand the difference between WHAT happened, and WHY it happened, and can hold both fairly easily in the palm of my hand.

It frankly disturbs me that isn’t most people’s reality.

ALL of the children I’ve ever taught? That’s baseline.
- What happened?
- Why did it happen?
(2 WILDLY different things!)
- At least 2 things you could do differently next time. (There will ALWAYS be a next time).
- How can you make it right? (Or as right as it can be?)

2. If it’s in my hand, it’s mine.

3. If I can take it from you, it’s mine.

4. If I had it a little while ago, it’s mine.

5. If it’s mine, it must never appear to be yours in any way.

6. If I’m doing or building something, all the pieces are mine.

7. If it looks just like mine, it is mine.

8. If I saw it first, it’s mine.

9. If you are playing with something and you put it down, it automatically becomes mine.
