My mother has been requesting to meet with my T for a while now. She says it's because she has no idea how to help/deal with me but I've been afraid of letting her in. I'm afraid once she's met my T, she will try contacting her again and again.

Soooo nervous. Session is happening in an hour... Any advice?

Thanks all & hope YOU are all having a great day

@Smile, It will be up to your T how much your mom is allowed to 'bother' him/her. Lets hope she really does want to find ways to help. But I certainly understand how vulnerable you must feel right now... Your T has a responsibility to NOT say anything that you and they have talked about.. That is the law !! Hopefully your T will direct your mom to her OWN therapy.... please let us know how this works out ... sending you 's if you accept them.

Ask to have some time with your T while your mum waits outside, ask your T to be clear about the purpose of including your mum in your session, if you can, agree what she can and can't share with your mum and that during the part of the session your mum joins, agree a process for any future contact eg not without you being there.

If there are things you specifically don't want to talk about with your mum there, tell your T beforehand. Your T shouldn't try to do "therapy" with your mum there, if you need a therapy session it would be worth seeing if you can arrange another session without your mum.

Good luck
