if i expect my husband my husband home at a certain time I text and ask him where he is. If i'm not home when the timeline of work would indicate i should be home he calls me and asks what's going on. not because we have each other on a short leash but because we do life together. He may want to know where I am so we can figure out what time we will eat, or just general logisitics for living and doing life together. I have been in "extremely" abusive relationships and there is a big, big difference between wanting to know where someone is and controlling every move someone makes.

Why are you and your wife changing how you handle your finances?

Does your wife say why she is checking up on you? Considering the situation, she might be concerned for you still. Is she taking it too far?
