Should I Get A New Vso? Can I?

So, it has been 10 days since I sent my VSO an email asking for an update. I never had much communication from him other than "you need to fill this, this and this out" "received the papers, thank you". I filed for compensation with the VA myself in OCT of 2013 and reached out to the VFW in early Feb. Status on Vonapp is the exact same as when I filed in October.

Any help would be appreciated

Mast, you won't find another Vet Rep that will take over from the other guy. They all have some kind of rule not to. You'll have to wait until you're denied (or you prevail) before you can change. Being in the system for five months isn't really long these days. Some cases are so airtight (physical wounds, lost limbs) that they cruise right through. Others, and our PTSD is considered "others", take much longer because they have more requirements to check out.

My advice would be to go to www.hadit.com and talk to the ladies there. They know of ways to "light a fire" under them that might speed up your case. Lastly, you are your best advocate for your claim. If the VFW copies you everything that they send them, you'll be able to ask the VFW what action they are going to take.

My last go around I switched VSO's. went the military order of the Purple Heart to the DAV and for whatever it's worth. I think the DAV helped. Got a lot more correspondence and interaction with the latter than with MOPH. Plus got to become a life member.

It is possible to switch during a claim. My last go around with the VA lasted 2.5yrs. And was f*ckin hangin on by a thread, a wing and a prayer. As stated, 5months is just a drop in a bucket. I also went the way of going to my congressman's office towards the end and that seemed to get the ball moving. But it was after I had exhausted every other avenue that I could conjure up. What is your claim for?

I have a claim just for PTSD. I feel like it is getting worst and worst as every day goes on. I really didn't have anyone to reach out to about a lot of the problems I was experiencing so I started talking to a VA support specialist. He said there are a few things I can do and a few contacts that he can get me in touch with because my situation is an emergency. I just reached out to him again as I blacked out on the freeway, had a panic attack, and ran into the back of someones truck. I feel like I am a danger to myself, on top of everything. I am feeling more anxiety, more irritability and paranoia everyday. My buddies that I deployed with have been snapping lately, mostly the ones that are civilians now. A few of them recently tried to commit suicide and it's killing me that it happening to so many of them. I think about it all the time but I can never see myself going through with it, I am just scared that I am going to snap. It scares me.
