In light of Trump's administration addressing/overturning the regulation that would ban the severely mentally ill from gun ownership I thought I'd pose the question to those who understand the disorder best. I do own one hand gun. When my PTSD symptoms were at their worst I couldn't believe I was allowed to own a gun. I had it dismantled and hidden from me until I was better.

My concern with the ban is that some people would not ask help for PTSD if they thought they'd lose their gun rights once diagnosed.

I'm a collector of knives, swords and guns. It's a novelty to me, but I sure know how to use them. I can cut a pop can clean in half with a karambit blade being as long as the thickness of the can.

Despite my collection and abilities, I've never meant any harm to myself or others. Even my wife is OK with my collection. So I see no reason to confiscate my collection.

But I understand how some people with ptsd can be a danger to themselves or others. I can see you controlling their access to weapons. But if someone is fearing for their lives due to what they've experienced, hell at least let them keep a bat in their house or a tactical flashlight in their pockets.

I believe in the right to bear arms, but arms doesn't just mean guns. It simply means anything you can carry for protection.

I have a large collection of weapons. I also have a strong self-imposed rule that states I never touch my weapons when I'm unstable. I've only had to lock my guns up and give my brother the key to the safe 2 or 3 times in my 15 years of dealing with PTSD symptoms. As long as I continue to take care of myself and not intend to harm anyone, there is no reason I should lose my firearms. I'm perfectly capable of carrying my weapons on a daily basis and using sound judgement on when to use them, but I haven't pursued my carry license because I'm scared they will find my mental health records and deny me my license. Wish this state had Constitutional Carry...

I'm not sure, but I think I would be denied a permit to carry or own a gun because of my mental health issues. I don't have an opinion about the poll, because I could go either way with it. Yes and no......

I'm not giving up my weapons and neither is my husband. We live in a rural setting and need them for protection.

My psychopathic father taught me how to shoot a gun and shoot people. Lovely....:alien::eek:
