There is a single sign-on solution (SSO) that is now in development. What it means is this, the forum network will eventually become a single username environment, that once logged into any of the sites, you will automatically be logged into the other sites.
You have one registered account, that's it.
This is no way interferes with profile information or permissions across any forum, it is purely username, password and email, which username and email are unique entities, and the password obviously goes to your unique entities.
It has a conflict resolution process of manual authentication, which will allow manual handling for those who have accounts on other sites. Those who use the same username, no issue... those who do not, issues will arise and you will endup receiving a notification that an account is banned or such, being one username can only exist.
I cannot give specifics... as the development only begins in a weeks time and will take at least a month to complete, let alone beta testing, etc.
