Sleep Apnea

Here and there I may stop breathing, but that's it
Probably nightmares or so
But I don't think I have sleep apnea :wideeyed:

I chewed the inside of my cheek quite badly last night :b...

Agh, that is annoying isn't it? I have big scars inside my mouth that tend to freak out my dentists  and sometimes chip or break a piece of a molar, ptsd and the tension it causes during sleep are not good for teeth, at all  And waking up with a bloody mouth is very confusing

Definitely tell your doctor about waking up gasping for air. Also, if you get sleepy a lot throughout the day, or have to nap, he should know. Long term, it is very unhealthy, and can lead to other issues.

I got to where I couldn't drive more than 20 minutes before I would get REALLY sleepy. I actually almost fell asleep at the wheel several times, and realized that something was REALLY wrong.

I would also jerk a lot in my sleep, and I was told I would yell out during my sleep "HELP, HELP!" (freaked my son out when I visited.)
I think my brain was doing it's best to restart my breathing when I stopped for too long.

If you do have sleep apnea, getting it treated will make a HUGE difference in how you feel.
Best of luck!

Thank you AKJ

oh my, that's terrifying, I'm glad you're okay. I have moments when I'm eating and almost fall asleep, it feels like I'm going to faint, it's so strange.. I have only had my symptoms for a couple of months, it's all new to me :(

chip or break a piece of a molar
oh yeah, it's awful isn't it? I have been grinding my teeth for about seven years now, I didn't know I was doing it until I saw a different dentist a year ago and he said, by which time I'd ruined a lot of my teeth, he filled them for the time being but I'm going to need dentures in the not so distant future  I'm in my early thirties. I actually need to go get a new night guard, I hate the mould thing they put in your mouth :(

I have moments when I'm eating and almost fall asleep,

I'm reeeally not trying to freak anyone out (promise), but if it is sleep apnea, for some people it gets bad enough that they do quite literally just start falling asleep on the spot.

Here in Aus, if you do a sleep test and it shows that you're spending too long not breathing, it does reach a point where you have to report that to your employer etc, because of the potential that you may suddenly fall asleep literally on your feet.

It has to be really had before it gets to that point, but just sayin - feeling like you might suddenly fall asleep without warning may not just be a "feeling"...

I still clench my dentures, after ruining my teeth...get the mouth guard!

Daytime sleepiness is a HUGE symptom!

It's better to be safe than sorry! Long term sleep apnea can cause heart disease!

I'm definitely going to get the mouth guard. My doctor seems kinda negligent. She told me last week I have low ferritin and low b12, so I may have pernicious anemia :banghead:

Well, if you are REALLY fatigued, you have your answer! It seems like dr.s are super slow at figuring out anything that is different...especially when you have chronic fatigue...

Yeah, I wish I had known sooner, been completely exhausted and all kinds of other symptoms (which fit perfectly with the pernicious anemia), including.. swollen tongue :wideeyed: I saw a different doctor in June at an out of hours (it was a Sunday) as an emergency because my breathing got so bad and she suggested anemia but when I got my blood taken the following day at my regular surgery and I later phoned for the results I was told my bloods were normal  the same blood, by the way that she last week told me has low ferritin and b12  I think when I'm feeling better I'll be changing doctor/surgery.

I do have sleep apnea, but not so much that I need a machine. I'm exhausted all time and sleep apnea won't get it better for me :/
